Ten Thousand Villages is a non-profit fair trade retailer in the US selling a variety of artisan handmade products including home décor, plant & garden, personal accessories, and holiday décor from heritage craft locations around the world. In my time from 2022-2024, I worked as a Product Design & Development Assistant to design products and specifications to be sent to the company’s artisan partners and created from scratch. Responsibilities include designing many products for function and aesthetics (drawing by hand or utilizing the Adobe Suite to piece together pieces of existing products), detailing specifications, designing product packaging/ tagging, communicating and working with artisan partners as well as the in-house Purchasing Team, making design revisions, and managing a spreadsheet of active projects per collection. Below is a sampling of final products I designed for Ten Thousand Villages in the home & gift categories during my time with the company.
